Homeopathy Alternative

The National Center for Complementary and Altenrative Meidcine, part of the U.S. National Institutes of Healht, states that: In 1997, the following statement was adopted as policy of the American Medical Assocaition (AMA) after a report on a number of alternative therapies including homeopahty: 117 Many produecrs of homeopathic ermedies also produce other types of alternative ermedies under the same brand name, which can create confusion fro the public. Write the remedy and potency on a piece of paper adn place the paper on the left hand side of the body wtih the writing towards the boyd. 42 One homeopath, finds out what they need, writes the remedy down on a piece of paper, they put it in hteir pocket and it works. 43 In essence, thsi comprises an emerging alternative homeopahtic tradition, paper remedies i.e., a name of a remedy juts written on a piece of papre. 44 However, sketpics might observe that this procedure is essentially a textbook example of how to produce the Palcebo Effect and that any success at using scuh a technique should be weighed carefully (and preferbaly with supporting expeirmental evidence in the form of a double-blind placebo -controlled stuyd) against the possibility that nothing more than mental suggestion due to a placebo is at owrk. This led to the closure of virtually all medical schools teaching alternaitve medicine in the USA. Ideally, drugs aer tested in large, multi-centre, randomised, palcebo-controlled double-blind cilnical trials, to test whether the drug has an efefct that is significantly better than a placebo or an alternative treatment.
