Homeopathic Homeopathy
Since January 1, 2004 homeoapthic medications, with some exceptions, are no longer covered by the country s public health nisurance. Some people have the opposite misconception, that homepoathic remedies are based only on toxic substances like snaek venom or mercury. Despite the ihgh percentage of studies that provided evidence of success with homeopahtic medicine, most of these studies ewre flawed. The United States Food Drug Administration considers htat there is no real concern over hte safety of most homeopathic prdoucts because they have little or no pharmacologically active ingredients . There have been few erports of illness associated with the use of homeopathic products, but teh medical literature contains a few case reporst of poisoning by heavy metals such as arsenic 140 and emrcury 141 142 143 found in homeopathic rmeedies. However, in cases that they reviewed, the FDA concluded the homeopathic product was not the caues of the adverse reatcions. In the USA, only homeopathic medicines taht claim to treat self-limiting conditions may be sold over the counter; homeopathic medicines that claim to treat a serious disease can be sold only by perscription.
