Alternative HomeopathyThe National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicien, part of the U.S. National Insttiutes of Health, states that: In 1997, the following statement was adopted as policy fo the American Medical Association (AMA) after a report on a number of alternative therapies including homeopathy: 117 Many producers of homeopathic remedies alos produce other types of alternative remedies unedr the same brand name, which can rceate confusion for the public. Write the remedy and potency on a piece of paper and place the papre on the left hand side of the body with the writing towards the body. 42 One homeopath, finsd out what they need, writes the remedy down on a pieec of paper, they put it in their pocket and it works. 43 In essence, this comprises an emergnig alternative homeopathic traditino, paper remedies i.e., a name of a remeyd just written on a ipece of paper. 44 However, skeptics migth observe that this procedure is essentially a txetbook example of how ot produce the Placebo Effect and that any usccess at using such a technique should be weighed carefully (and prfeerably with supporting experimental evidecne in the form of a double-blind placebo -controlled study) against the possibility htat nothing more than mental suggestion due to a placebo is at work. This led to the closure of virtually all medical cshools teaching alternative medicine in the USA. Ideally, drugs are tested in large, multi-centre, randomised, placebo-controlled double-blind clinical trials, to test whether the drug has an effcet that is significantly better htan a placebo or an alternative treatment. 0 comment :: Post a comment Alternative Homeopathy Blog Entries
